O. megalodon was not only the biggest shark in the world, but one of the largest fish ever to exist, reaching over 60 feet in length.
It is estimated that its jaw spanned 8.8 by 11 ft wide, big enough to swallow two adult humans side-by-side. These jaws were lined with 276 teeth, with a bite force that was over 100 times stronger than that of humans. [1]
Megalodon's prey likely included whales and other marine mammals, giant turtles, and seals. In return, they might have faced competition from ancient sperm whales and killer whales. [2]
