Octopus Ox Bone Box

This box is made of real ox bone tiles over a wood base, etched with an octopus, and hand-polished to enhance the coloring. Perfect for holding jewelry, keys and keepsakes.

Traditional scrimshaw art involved carving or etching motifs on bone or ivory and filling in the grooves with ink; it was often practiced by American sailors on long voyages during the 18th and 19th centuries.
