Age: Upper Carboniferous/Pennsylvanian (~305 million years old)
Origin: Llewellyn Formation, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA
Size: Approx. 7" x 6"
This plate features two beautifully preserved prehistoric fossil ferns: a black imprint of a Neuropteris fern in light grey shale, as well as a highly detailed Alethopteris imprint on the other side. Both of the fern genera are now extinct and known only from fossils. The detail is exquisite - it's possible to distinguish the individual veins on the fern fronds! An excellent collectors' item as well as a beautiful decor piece.
Comes with certificate of authenticity and information card.
