Join us for a jackalope shoulder mount with professional taxidermist Katie Innamorato (@afterlifeanatomy on Instagram).
This class introduces students to the techniques and skills involved in advanced small mammal taxidermy. Students will learn the complete process of skinning, preparing, preserving, mounting, and posing a specimen.
Special attention will be given to properly splitting, turning, and positioning rabbit ears. Students will also learn how to create their own forms using traditional taxidermy methods, including body wrapping and foam carving. Using the carcass as a reference, students will construct and shape the body to achieve a natural and lifelike form.
The class will also cover techniques for making and molding custom items for taxidermy projects at home. Students are welcome to bring props or accessories they would like to incorporate into their finished piece.
The instructor will provide all specimens, materials, and tools needed for the class. Each student will leave with their own completed mount.
Registration is open to participants ages 18 and older only.
All materials provided.
