The jewel beetle, Sternocera aequisignata, is a wood-boring beetle known for its shiny, metallic shell, which irridesces of blue, green, and yellow. In several ancient Asian cultures, Sternocera aequisignata wings were used to decorate paintings, textiles, and jewelry. These earrings follow that tradition.
These earrings are made from the beetle’s elytra (the hardened, protective forewings). They’re lightweight, durable, and absolutely beautiful!
