The Muonionalusta meteorite is the oldest meteorite discovered to date. It was most likely part of the iron core of a planet, and is composed of iron, nickel and cobalt. The distinctive striping pattern of the Muonionalusta meteorite is the result of the meteorite's unusually slow cooling rate.
