Learn to use solar printing to create ethereal prints of real florals and printed images on fabric and paper, and go home with a gorgeous printed tote bag of your own design.

Cyanotype is a photography process developed in 1842 by Sir John F.W. Herschel; it involves using light-sensitive salts to create "prints" of real objects by exposing them to the sun. As the cyanotype chemicals develop on fabric or paper, they turn an intense, dark blue, leaving photographic imprints of any objects on the surface.

In this workshop, you will learn how to mix, apply, and develop cyanotype chemicals, as well as how to arrange objects for solar photography for maximum visual impact. You'll practice by creating your own arrangement of florals, negatives, and found objects on a tote, and developing the cyanotype process to the final result.
